Originally from New Bedford, Massachusetts, Attorney Shapira enrolled in the United States Naval Reserves in 1959, where he was in active service for two years. Attorney Shapira eventually traveled to Rhode Island to attend Bryant College and graduated in 1965. Less than five years later, he attended New England School of Law where he graduated in 1972.
Attorney Shapira has over 45 years of experience practicing in areas of law that include criminal defense, workers’ compensation, and personal injury. At one time he was a criminal prosecutor for the Providence Police Department. Attorney Shapira also has experience teaching criminal justice and business law courses at Roger Williams College and Johnson & Wales College.
Attorney Shapira is currently a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Attorney Shapira was previously a member of the Rhode Island Criminal Defense League, the Rhode Island Association for Justice and was on the Board of Providence Redevelopment Agency.
